Dor
The Center for Mei"r Religious Education
We ensure
We ensure that religious families have schools for their children that teach open minded Torah studies with a deep commitment to Halacha and the Jewish people.
Dor, Mei”r education builds a brand of Torah observance that lessens extremism and strengthens the balanced religious community.
?Who are we
-
Derech Eretz Kadma L’Torah
Fewer and fewer are the educational options for religious parents in Israel who want to see their children follow the path of Torah both religiously and morally. Today, families find themselves forced to choose between schools with stronger but more extreme religious studies and those with stronger ethical but weaker Torah studies. We believe families shouldn’t have to make that choice, that Torah U’Madda should be available to every Jewish child. DOR creates and strengthens religious schools that successfully combine strong moral, secular, and religious studies. -
Ben Adam L’makom & Ben Adam L’chavero
In order to raise children and create a society that holds both their relationship with God and their relationship with others sacred, we need schools and educators that encourage critical thought, sharp questions, and wider world views as an integral part of Torah and Derech Eretz. DOR strengthens schools that balance text based Torah studies with the values of social responsibility. We advocate for, and acquire, higher budgets, reduce socio economic gaps, bring in stellar educators and administrators, and eliminate obstacles that prevent parents from choosing more moderate schools. The result is a net gain in confident religious students, a weakening of extremism, and a stronger moderate religious community.
DOR’s strategic approach
- Policy change: We secure the status of moderate schools and ensuring fair competition in the allocation of resources
- Strengthening Communities: We work with parents and education departments to increase attendance in Mei”r schools.
- Recruiting Educators: We recruit and guide open-minded educators and administrators committed to moderate Orthodox Judaism Torah and Mesorah.
- Building Language: We present complex educational concepts and provide answers to dilemmas faced by our youth, helping them be both religious and tolerant, building a culture and language.
